Her mother is an artist, from Cincinnati, Ohio, and her father, an infertility specialist from Israel. She spoke Hebrew at first. She moved four times while in Israel. When she was three she moved with her family to Washington D.C in the United States of America. At three, the family moved to Maryland. At seven, Connecticut, and at age nine to Long Island, New York.<BR> <BR> Natalie is a vegetarian. She became a vegetarian at age eight when she witnessed doctors demonstrating laser surgery on a chicken at a medical conference with her father. Natalie has been a strict vegetarian since she was 8, when her doctor dad took her along to a medical conference <BR> <BR> Her big break came at age 11. She was at a pizza parlor after dance class one day when a Revlon representative spoke to her about modeling a line of childrens fragrances. He introduced her to modeling agents to whom she told that she would prefer to act. <BR> <BR> Her first role came in an off-Broadway musical called Ruthless. <BR> <BR> She began working with the Usdan Theatre Arts Camp, where she appeared in a number of local productions including the role of Dora in Fiorello, and Annie in Annie Get Your Gun. <BR> <BR> Natalie developed an interest in performing after attending the Stagedoor Manor Performing Camp for three summers. Her first acting experiences came from her summers at Stagedoor Manor, where she was cast in the theatre performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Cabaret, was the title character in Anne of Green Gables, and performed in Tapestry. Portman is her grandmother's maiden name, used so that she wouldn't have to disclose her real name. <BR> <BR> At age12 she got her first movie role in L¨¦on (The Professional). This was filmed in New York and France from June to October, 1993 and released in France.
