By the time she was 11, Aaliyah was backing Gladys Knight in Las Vegas; before finishing high school she released her solo debut, 1994's Age Ain't Nothing But a Number, which went platinum thanks to hits like "Back and Forth" and "At Your Best (You Are Love)." After marrying her producer, R. Kelly, Aaliyah returned in 1996 with One In a Million, which featured cameos by rappers Treach and Slick Rick.<BR> <BR> In 2000, she contributed four tunes to the Romeo Must Die soundtrack. The following year, she came out with her latest album, simply titled Aaliyah.<BR> <BR> On August 25, 2001, tragedy struck when Aaliyah was killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas.
